Our Mission

MUP’s mission is to publish books which provide trusted information and commentary and enriching art and culture to all those with an active, open, humane interest in the world around them.

Our Values

MUP’s core values underpin everything we do, enabling us to create books that enrich the public record and foster ongoing trust in the MUP brand.
·       Editorial independence

Our Publishing Program

MUP’s publishing program is overseen by its CEO and Publisher and an Editorial Advisory Board of esteemed scholars from within and outside the University of Melbourne. Together, the Publisher and Editorial Advisory Board undertake a rigorous selection process, ensuring every book MUP publishes is in line with its vision and mission, and is of the quality for which we have long been known.

Under the Melbourne University Press imprint, we publish a wide array of premium scholarly books enjoyed by both an academic and non-academic audience. Through our Miegunyah Press imprint, we publish lavishly illustrated landmark books that document our national story, including award-winning art, photography, historical and biographical titles.

The prestigious and editorially independent literary journal Meanjin also falls under the MUP umbrella.
