General Information


Record of Sale on Your Bank Statement


Glassboxx is MUP’s eCommerce merchant and will be listed on your bank statement. Your bank may also include MUP or Melbourne University Publishing.

Discount Codes


Discount codes can be entered in your cart and applied during checkout. Enter the discount code and choose Apply Discount. Your total will be updated.

Please note that qualified items must be in your cart for valid codes to work. Only one code may be applied at a time.

Returns and Refunds


We do not offer returns or refunds on eBook or Print-on-Demand sales. All orders are final.

Product Safety


All books published by Melbourne University Publishing comply fully with the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation (December 2024). 

For any other product safety concerns, please email us including the title and ISBN, and we will respond as soon as possible.

eBooks on the MUP App


In partnership with Glassboxx, Melbourne University Publishing has developed an app exclusively for reading eBooks purchased on this website. You will need this app to be able to access eBooks purchased through the MUP website.

Download the MUP App


Download the app for iOS, Android, Windows and macOS app stores, or from the Glassboxx downloads page.

Verification Code


You need a verification code to log into the app. 

After you enter your email address on the login screen, we will send a verification code to the address. The email will come from Glassboxx and has the subject ‘Your Glassboxx Verification Code’. You might need to check your spam folder to retrieve the verification email.  

Copy and paste the code from the email into the verification screen and tap Verify Me. You will then be taken to the My Books screen, and you can start using the app to read or listen to your book. 

Setting up an Account and Logging in


You can download the app as per the above, or you can download it through the checkout process. Once you have purchased an eBook from mup.com.au, you will receive a confirmation email. The email will contain links to download our app to access your book. 

When you open the app, log in with your email address (no password is required) and all your purchased content will be displayed on the My Books screen. 

Tap on the cover image to start reading your new book. 

Reading in Your Web Browser


You can read or listen to your purchased content in your web browser by logging in with your email address. 

Can I use another app to read or listen to my book? 


While our eBooks are available for purchase from other retailers or platforms, purchases made on mup.com.au can only be enjoyed on our branded mobile or desktop apps, powered by Glassboxx.


MUP eBook App Troubleshooting Tips


Trouble Logging in


If you are having problems logging in to the app—for example, if you see the message ‘Email address not recognised’)—make sure the email address you are entering on the login screen is the email address used when making your purchase from our website. This may be different from the one you are using for your app store account. 

After following the steps above, if you continue to see the message ‘Email address not recognised’, please contact us.

Mobile App not Loading Content Correctly


If the mobile app is not loading correctly, open the mobile app and click on the three dots (…) located at the bottom of the screen. Choose Logout and enter your email address. Choose Login and enter the verification code sent to your email. Your content should now load.

Transferring Your Books to a New Device 


If you have a new device, simply download our app from the app store, log in with the email address used when you purchased your books, and you will find them under My Books.

Redeem a Digital Token


If you have a digital token to purchase a title, you can redeem it by visiting the token redemption page. Sign in to your existing account or register if this is your first time receiving eBooks directly from Melbourne University Publishing.

Our eBooks cannot be copied, shared or printed. This is to protect the rights of the authors and the book publisher.


Print-on-Demand


In partnership with Glassboxx, CPI and Ingram, Melbourne University Publishing keeps over 450 titles available as physical books through Print-on-Demand.

What is Print-on-Demand?


Print-on-Demand (POD) is a printing technology and business operation where copies of a title are not printed until an order is received, allowing customers to purchase single or small quantities of a book that is otherwise not available in print. 

Pricing


Our Print-on-Demand (POD) books are more expensive than our warehouse stock. This is because of how they are made.

With POD, we print books only when an order is received. This means there are no bulk discounts or wasted inventory. The slightly higher cost per book reflects the flexibility, instant availability of our backlist catalogue and reduced environmental waste compared to overprinting, which often leads to the pulping of unwanted book stock.

Shipping Options


Our Print-on-Demand titles are available worldwide.

To see your shipping options during checkout, choose Estimate Shipping and Tax then enter your country, state and postcode.

Checking the Status of Your Order


Once logged in, choose My Account, then My Orders. Select your order and choose View Order. The shipping information will be included on this page once it becomes available. A tracking number will also be emailed to you, along with an order confirmation. 

If you check out as a guest, you will be asked to enter your email address and will receive this email with your confirmation details and tracking number.

Delivery Timeline


Print-on-Demand orders are processed immediately once payment is confirmed. Most orders should arrive within 5 business days, however please allow up to 2-weeks during busy periods.

Trade Discount for POD


If you are a bookseller or retailer, please contact your sales representative or email us for trade discounts. Please be aware that sale-or-return is not available for POD products. 

Why can’t I find an old MUP title available as POD?


There are many reasons why a title has not been made available in Print-on-Demand, including:

·      the title is still in stock at the warehouse, and is available at the more affordable trade price
·      MUP no longer holds the rights to the title
·      the title is a full-colour book, which is not a compatible Print-on-Demand format for MUP at this time.
