Sales and Marketing Director

Melbourne University Press is seeking an experienced and accomplished Director to oversee its sales and marketing.

The University of Melbourne is consistently ranked among the leading universities in the world, with international rankings of world universities placing it as number 1 in Australia and number 33 in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022).

MUP is Australia’s oldest university press, in 2022 celebrating its one-hundredth anniversary. MUP publishes popular scholarship with particular strengths in Australian Studies and History, Southeast Asian and South Asian Studies, and Health and Medicine. Under its Miegunyah Press imprint the press also produces major biographies and high-quality works on Art, Art History and Architecture.

The Sales and Marketing Director will have a proven, high-level track record in sales and marketing, preferably within the publishing industry, and familiarity with the digital and data-driven dimensions of these roles.

Reporting to the CEO, the Sales and Marketing Director will have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the press’s sales and marketing strategies.

They will be ready to develop and oversee sales and marketing campaigns for the press’s titles, provide leadership to the press’s sales, communications and publicity operations, staff and contractors, and work productively with distributors and sales agents, retailers, members of the media and other industry professionals.
