Melbourne University Press (MUP) is seeking a first-rate Publicist.
The University of Melbourne is consistently ranked among the leading universities in the world, with international rankings of world universities placing it as number 1 in Australia and number 32 in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020).
MUP is Australia’s largest and oldest university press, with a focus on issues of strong interest and importance for local, national and international readers.
The Publicist will have a strong connection with the retail book market, in Australia especially, a knowledge of the media and public-event landscape relevant to books publishing, a willingness to travel, and a capacity to bring together authors, readers, journalists, editors, event organisers and other industry participants in such a way as to maximise exposure and readership for books.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing and Sales, the Publicist will also attend sales and acquisitions meetings, contribute to the development of book publicity and marketing strategies, contribute to social media campaigns, and feed information back into the press for inclusion in the overall MUP communications program.
