Andrew Quilty at Melbourne Writers Festival

Human Rights Watch’s Australia Director Elaine Pearson and Gold Walkley-winning photojournalist and reporter Andrew Quilty discuss how their work bears witness to conflict and tragedy, elevating those whose lives are transformed by injustice and political failure. Pearson’s Chasing Wrongs and Rights documents her work as a human rights advocate, from the atrocities of Sri Lanka’s civil war to the treatment of asylum seekers in Australia. Quilty’s August in Kabul offers a first-hand account of the intense final days of the War in Afghanistan, told through the eyes of Afghans themselves. They speak with ABC Radio’s Paul Barclay.
