Avid Reader: Natasha Stott Despoja ‘On Violence’

Madonna King is in-conversation with Natasha Stott Despoja at South League's Club discussing her literary essay On Violence.

Why is violence against women endemic, and how do we stop it?

Every two minutes, police are called to a family violence matter. Every week, a woman is killed by a current or former partner. This is Australia's national emergency. Violence against women is preventable. It is not an inevitable part of the human condition. It's time to create a new normal. It is time to stop the slaughter in our suburbs.

Natasha Stott Despoja is the founding chair of Our Watch (the foundation to End Violence Against Women and their Children). She was Australia's Global Ambassador for Women and Girls, an Australian Democrats senator from 1995 to 2008, and leader of the party between 2001 and 2002.

This event commences at 6.30pm. The cost of this ticket includes a copy of the book. Printed tickets are not issued and your booking and book will be on a door list under your surname.
