Clare Press at Adelaide Fashion Festival: Slow Fashion Saturday

Join Adelaide and Australia’s leading change-makers in the realm of sustainable and ethical fashion and be empowered to be part of something BIG.

SLOW Fashion is more than a fashion program and lunch; it’s a movement. Join Vogue Australia’s Sustainability Editor-at-Large Clare Press, Adelaide designers/creatives Anny Duff (Good Studios), Natalie Ivanov (Re-Swim Club) and Emily Sheahan (vintage & clothing exchange advocate), leading chef Simon Bryant and Wicks Estate for a day of change.

The SLOW Fashion program, styled by Vogue fashion editor Philippa Moroney, involves:

  • Sustainable Showcase – a curated runway of Australian brands that have an ethos of sustainability, long life and conscious craftsmanship. Designs will feature sustainably sourced fabrics and employ ethical practices through production. Brands include KitX, Bianca Spender, Nobody, Good Studios, Kalaurie, A. BCH, Autark, Home Job, Re-Swim Club and From Found.
  • Vintage and Pre-loved – vintage has an important story to tell with its inherent nod to reuse and celebration of the past. To truly stand the test of time, in both fabrication and style, is the ultimate model of sustainability. Suppliers include The Commons and Claire Inc and stock will be cleaned by Karl Chehade Dry Cleaners.
  • Deadstock – question the norm of rejection and waste in the fashion sector and see the industry’s deadstock find new life on the runway.

After the runway presentation, enjoy a three-course lunch prepared by Tasting Australia festival director and The Cook and The Chef’s Simon Bryant.

The SLOW menu will highlight ethical produce and channel a conscious effort to use ingredients that are sustainable, seasonal and limit waste. Drinks will be provided by AFF’s beverage partner Wicks Estate Wines, that compliment the theme of the day and the menu.

Lunch will be served in the AFF Grounds, allowing you the chance to chat with the game changers. This is an opportunity to be part of preserving our future, to encourage others to think differently, and be positive about being part of a new way of living, every day.

The event is sponsored by Karl Chehade Dry Cleaning, Australia’s leading environmentally friendly GreenEarth dry cleaner. Using all-natural products and a solar power plant for water heating, KC Dry Cleaning is pure and gentle for the earth and your clothes.
