When Galaxies Collide: Presentation by Dr Lisa Harvey-Smith at TEDx Melbourne

Celebrated CSIRO Astronomer, Professor, Acclaimed TV presenter of ABC’s Stargazing Live and Science Author of When Galaxies Collide.

Winner of the 2016 Eureka Prize for Public Understanding of Australian Science Research and co-recipient of the CSIRO Chairmans Medal 2015, Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith’s great passion for astronomy has led to her to teaching and tackling research on the birth and death of stars in the Milky Way and to measure interactions between colliding galaxies.

She is also the presenter of ABC’s hit TV series, Stargazing Live, phenomenally breaking the record for the most people simultaneously stargazing, with more than 40,000 Australians. In addition, she is the proclaimed author of the science book, When Galaxies Collide. She feels most connected when she’s walking through nature or gazing at a dark sky and hopes that people can reconnect and marvel once again at our amazing night sky.
