Aleksandar Janca


Aleksandar Janca is Winthrop Professor of Psychiatry in the School of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Western Australia and Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Research and Teaching in WA. Professor Janca started his research career in 1987 as a Fulbright Scholar in the Department of Psychiatry, Washington University School of Medicine in the US. From 1991 to 1997 he worked at WHO in Geneva, was responsible for coordinating several international projects in psychiatric nosology, psychiatric epidemiology and transcultural psychiatry. Dr Janca has a particular interest in the development and evaluation of novel psychiatric concepts, and in assessment instruments in indigenous mental health. He has published more then 200 scientific papers, book chapters and books.
