Frank Larkins


Frank Larkins has had a long association with International House. He was a student, chemistry tutor and Director of Studies at various times from 1962 to 1966. He served on the IH Council for thirty-three years, and from 2009 to 2015 was its chair. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Melbourne and a Distinguished Fellow within
the IH community. He graduated in Science and Education from Melbourne and holds a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from Oxford University, where he studied as the 1966 Rhodes Scholar for Victoria. Professor Larkins was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne in various portfolio roles related to research and international
engagement from 1990 to 2008. He has published more than 200 scientific papers and is a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. His wife Valerie has had links to IH since 1962. They have two children and two grandchildren.
