Jo Wainer


Jo Wainer, AM PhD is Adjunct Associate Professor, Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University and custodian of the transcripts. Her late husband Dr Bertram Wainer was the leading abortion reform doctor who in the 1970s led a long and difficult campaign to overturn the existing abortion laws which led to the Kaye Inquiry into police corruption and abortion. Dr Jo Wainer was part of the team which led to the passing of the Abortion Law Reform Act 2008 in Victoria, which decriminalised abortion, after a 40 year struggle.
